The FOIDS system detects perimeter intrusion by analyzing and categorizing light distortion measured in strategically placed fibre optic cable, consequently triggering appropriate security responses. The system can be applied across distances of up to 10 km between nodes, monitoring valuable real-estate, from properties to oil pipes.

Overview

The Blackfin-based Carrier Module is a specialized computing platform designed to run µCLinux as operating system. The module is equipped with an FPGA to provide digital interfacing and co-processing to the main processor.

Two image sensor modules provides detection of the fibre optic sensing, whilst two SFP modules provide a robust high throughput interface to the main processing computer placed inside a control room.
